Rise in per capita income, industrial investment, uninterrupted power supply to industry and villages, computerisation of electricity board, Prime minister’s(Narendra Modi) Digital India drive, increased literacy ratio, good rail road and air connectivity are many of the factors supporting Gujarat. Also the main advantage is the low crime rate and also safety as liquor consumption is prohibited in this state making the environment suitable for individuals to relocate and work there.
IT companies in Gujarat are eyeing 20% growth in this financial year and will focus on product development and global access, an official of a local IT association from ahmedabad said.Official output figures for the state’s IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) are not out yet, but exports from local office of the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) have been estimated at Rs 1,500 crore.

NASSCOM predicts that Gujarat is set to drive IT growth in the next decade, With improved IT infrastructure and education.According to Som Mittal, president of the IT industry body, while currently six cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Pune form 90 per cent of total IT industry, newer cities like Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mysore and Chandigarh will drive it in the next decade. Suggesting steps to grow further as an IT hub in the next decade, “Gujarat can use small companies from within and also attract large companies outside the state who are setting up their second or third units as part of expansion,” Mittal added Growth of IT sector from within gujarat is clearly visible with the upcoming of new innovative IT based startups . A few of these are Braina, CollegeBol, SalesMate, SoulCRM, wWhere,Infibeam etc.
The State government and educational institutions together are making a sincere effort to promote talent . The GESIA (Gujarat Electronics and Software Association of India) is taking steps to help IT sector develop further by noth only making better market access but also making efforts to create skilled human resources by coordinating with academic institutions. There is huge amount of hidden potential in Gujarat which will soon make it a leading IT hub in India.
