Anandiben Patel is formally anointed chief minister of Gujarat after Narendra Modi resigned as the chief minister of Gujarat. The BJP legislature party met in the afternoon at town hall, Gandhinagar to elect a new leader where decks have been cleared for Anandiben.

The new CM is likely to take oath on May 22, the sources said. She is the first woman CM of Gujarat.
