Famous Mandir (Temples) In And Around Gandhinagar

Mandir is the symbolic body or a holy place for people following Hinduism. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat. It is also the greenest town in Gujarat state. The temples here are very ancient and the stories of the temple are also very fascinating. They take you back to the old golden times. There are various temples in Gandhinagar. In this article, I am sharing you some of the temples located in and around gandhinagar.

1. BAPS Akshardham Temple:

Akhardham in literal way means “divine adobe of god”. It is place which gives you an opportunity to experience eternal and everlasting peace. Akshardham gives you the pleasure to feel devotion, education and unification. They proffer humble tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan ( 1781-1830) and timeless devotional messages.

Akshardham Temple Gandhinagar

There are over 200 murtis. The premise of Akshardham temple gives potential divine to each soul. They give the message that every person who helps other and also promotes humanity and mankind always find their way to god. The temple was opened on 30th October, 1992. This temple is inspires by HH Yogi Maharaj (1892-1971 CE) and created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj (1921-2016 CE). The mandir is intricately carved with sandstone.

How to reach Akshardham mandir:

The mandir is in gandhinagar city. The distance is around 32 km from ahmedabad railway station to temple approximately 45 minutes. And the distance from Ahmedabad airport is around 21 km which is around 30 minutes.

Timings:

The mandir gets open from 5:30 am till 9:30 pm.

World famous water show:

The water show of Gandhinagar Akshardham is famous worldwide. The show starts immediately after sunset in the amphitheatre of the mandir. The theme of the water show is taken from an age old tale from “Khathopanishad”. A child named Nachiketa confronts YAMA (the god of death) and ultimately receives from him the knowledge of immortality and eternal happiness. The water show is called as Sat-Chit-Anand water show. The show is shown in an 80ft wide * 60ft high water screen. It is a breathtaking water show of approximately 45 minutes.

The show starts as soon as sunsets. The duration of the show is 45 minutes.

2. Trimandir, Adalaj:

The Trimandir temple of adalaj is one of the biggest around Gadhinagar. The temple is built in an area of 40,175 sqaure feet. The podium of temple is configures an area of 20,895 square feet. The temple is full of lush, green gardens and big fountain in the middle of entrance. The satsang hall of the temple is around 31,861 square feet. There is an exhibition and mini-theatre on Gnani Puresh Param Pujya Dada whose vision was to eradicate and remove the differences among religions. Humans of all religion visit the temple. There are idols of Jainism, Shaivism and Vaishnavism within the tempe.  This gives a message of equal reverence on same platform.

Trimandir is located 20 km away from Ahmedabad near Adalaj village on Ahmedabad-Kalol Highway.

3. Ayyapa Temple, Gandhinagar:

Ayyapa temple is the only temple of Lord Ayyapa (an avatar of Vishnu) in Gandhinagar city. The Ayyapa Samiti a Charitable trust built this temple in the year 1976. The place is very soothing and peaceful. It takes you to the environment of Southern States of India. On every 14th January, they conduct Makaravilakku pooja with all the spiritual and ceremonial activities. People dress up wearing dhotis and also play “Mridang- A kind of South Indian Dholak” gives you to experience the exact atmosphere of South Indian Culture.

4. Panchdev Temple, Gandinagar:

Pachndev temple of gandhinage is one of the oldest in Gandhinagar city. The premise of temple is beautiful and with a large area where children can play. As the mandir is PANCHDEV, it explains that there are 5 major Hindu Gods. The Garbh Gruh of the temple is painted very nicely and accurately. The artistic work of the mandir is eye-catching. During the festival of Dev-Diwali they use 100 diyas to decorate the temple. This is a peaceful hindu temple known for its ornate domes, stone towers and vibrant interior.
