Porbandar which is famously known as the birthplace of Mohandas K. Gandhi (Gandhiji) is a place with beautiful architecture, sculptures, and beaches. This small city has many fascinating and amusing things that can make you fall in love with it. You would be able to inhale the sense of freedom in its air and peace in its vibes.
Every place has the right time to visit so that you can get the best of that. Porbandar has a delightful climate during the winters which are between November-February. The temperature ranges between 11- 35 degree Celsius.

Kirti Mandir

The house of Gandhiji which is now a memorial of him and Kasturba Gandhi is a place worth going. Let’s remember them once again and pay respect as you pass through the wall of their memorable pictures. The architecture there is beautiful, and it pays an ode to all the religions. The Kirti Mandir has a library, spinning hall, a prayer hall and a museum that would make you remember them and their struggle.

Chowpatty beach

How can you not visit the heart of Porbandar?
If you want to have a beautiful look of the sun over the Arabian Sea, then visit that place at the time of sunset. You can see the renowned port of Porbandar that would make the evening even more mesmerizing.

Keep your cameras ready to click a picture of the sunset with the ships sailing in the distant and making the sun its canvas.

To admire its tranquillity, morning would be the best time to visit. Walking by the shore, you can hear the waves crashing against the stones and feel the nature. After spending some quality time there, you can enjoy the local breakfast there nearby.

One of the unique dishes over there is Ghughra and chai. With the special ‘chutney,’ it is mouthwatering. Don’t forget to have that.

You would also be able to see the magnificent Huzoor palace from the beach, built in the early 20th century by the last Maharaja of Porbandar. The entry there is restricted so you can enjoy the view along with the sunrise.

Shri Hari Mandir

Fill your soul with the spiritual vibes of the enchanting Shri Hari Mandir. It is located at Sandipani VIdyaniketan and spread over 85 acres of land and is 105 feet high. There are idols of Ganesha, Radha Krishna, Laxmi Narayan and icons of other deities as well. You can also see the beautiful garden surrounding the Mandir.

Once you enter the temple, you will be able to embrace its beauty and the peacefulness in its surroundings. Carved from the pink stones of Rajasthan, the pillars look beautiful.

Coconut trees lined up along with the lush green trees would feel no less than Goa.

Madhavpur beach

At a distance of 58kms from Porbandar, you would be able to visit the most beautiful and famous beaches around Porbandar.

Best time to visit: During Sunset

You can enjoy the tasty coconuts there and have a camel ride along the shore witnessing the sunset.

On the way to Madhavpur, there is a beautiful place called ‘Jannat’ and it indeed is. This beach point is approximately 10 minutes from Porbandar and is a place worth stopping. The serenity of the beach can be witnessed from the top of a hill.

Time to be spent there: As long as you wish to admire.

Porbandar Bird Sanctuary

It can be said as one of the smallest bird sanctuaries but it sure is beautiful. You would be able to spot birds like ibis, flamingos and other migratory birds and the local birds. Don’t forget to keep your cameras.

Krishna- Sudama Temple

This temple is devoted to Sudama who was a very dear friend and devotee of Lord Krishna. The temple was built in the first decade of the 20th century and has maze kind of premises with marvelous architecture. Everyone is aware of the beautiful relationship that Lord Krishna and Sudama share and the sculptures there portray the same.

For all the architect lovers, Ghumli would be the place for you. The age-old creations and the sandstone walls there are worth capturing and studying for.
