There are many famous temples or Mandir in Surat that you must visit if you are a religious person. Here is a list of well known temples in Surat city.

1. Ambika Niketa Temple

Ambika Niketan temple is among the oldest and most admired temple in the city. The temple has an idol of Hindu goddess Ambika. Pilgrims visit mandir throughout year but most rush is seen during nine days of Navaratri. There are many shops on road to the temple which sells Prasad, statues of god, spiritual books and flowers. The temple is near the bank of River Tapi. Temple is in an area where you can easily reach by vehicles or public transport. The premise of temple is very big and management is excellent. From the back of temple, River Tapi is visible. Because of the river, the environment of temple is always cool and frizzy. This is a beautiful place to visit with friends and family.

2. Iskon Temple

Iskon temple of surat city is one of the biggest temple of the town. The principal’s deity of the temple is Lord Krishna. The mandir resides a bit far from the town and thus it provides peaceful atmosphere to the visitor. The temple’s trust provides for free lunch on every Sundays. The Sandhya Arti (evening arti) is very aesthetic. This is a serene place with peaceful and calming atmosphere and with lots and lots of positive vibrations.  The architecture of the temple is outstanding.

3. Ashapuri Mataji

The temple of Ashapuri Mataji and Varninath Mahadev is one of the oldest temple of Surat city. This mandir was established in the year 1972. Not only the local people but various visitors come to temple from different parts of the country. During the time of Mughal emperor, there was only a small temple of Ashapuri Maa where villagers started worshipping. But later, the small temple was destroyed by a muslim family resulting in a deteriorating condition of family. After that, the belief of villagers get stronger and after Independence SMC gave permission to build the temple in the same place. During the time of Chaitra Navratri, mataji is beautifully dressed with shringar and rajbhog is offered.

4. Shri Swaminarayan Temple

Shri Swaminarayan Temple of Surat comes under Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Vadtal Sansthan. The temple has a really good architectural beauty in the memory of lord Swaminarayan. The Swaminarayan Sanstha, is a spiritual sanstha helps in fostering individual growth following Hinduism. The premise of the temple is very big. The temple is located in centre of city and so reaching there is not so difficult.

5. Ichchhanath Temple

Ichchhanath temple of surat is a Lord Shiva temple. The meaning of “Ichchhanath” says fulfilling your wishes. The mandir remains open from 6:00 am to 8:30 pm. No entry fee is taken from visitors. The temple has a big dome and is located in the main road near Athwa gate. The temple is around 100 years old and has a historical touch in it. The architectural work of temple is also very fascinating. This is a very beautiful place to visit with your family and friends.

6. Old Ambaji Temple

The old Ambaji temple is one of the oldest temples in the city. It is located in the middle of the city. People of surat says that the temple plays an immense important role in the formation of reputation of Surat city. It is also the oldest temple of the country. It is believed that Shivaji Maharaj also went to this temple after winning the battle to seek blessings. On every Dusherra, rathyatra is organized and MAA AMBA is dressed with silver during rathyatra.
