Nadabet – The Indo-Pak border of Gujarat

Gujarat: One of the biggest states in the map of India embodied with different cultures, traditions and its industrial growth. Gujarat is also well-known for its weaving work. The Patola of Patan, Gujarat is a world famous example for silk work. Likewise, Gujarat also has a neighboring relation with Pakistan. In this article you will get to know about the zero line border between India and Pakistan, in Kutch district of Gujarat. The India Pakistan border of Gujarat is situated in Nadabet village of Rann of Kutch. This is a zero line border which separates India and Pakistan. The border in Nadabet is a very eye-catching tourist spot. Nadabet is at a distance of 375.3 km from Kutch.

What is Zero Line border?
The Indian map consist a red colored zigzag border which detaches India with other countries called the zero line border. The zero line borders are made in “border villages” where if anyone wants to enter India then it is nothing but only a walk across. Zero line borders are those borders of a territory which is surrounded by territory of other country from almost all sides.

Nadabet: The eye-catcher

Nadabet is a BSF cantonment post which is 20 km from Sui Village near Pakistan border. The border of Nadabet is extended from Jammu and Kashmir at north and zero point between India and Sindh (a province in Pakistan). The total length of this extended border is 3323 km long. All the perks there are controlled and managed by the BSF. It is said that, the border is one amongst the difficult borders of India.

There is a Nadeshwari Maa temple near the border. This temple was made by the BSF jawans earlier but at the time of earthquake the temple got destroyed and again renovated in year, 2015. It is said that, earlier the king of Junagadh have stayed there with his big army when they were heading towards the clutches of river Sindhu to rescue her sister. At that time, a girl helped King and his troop with food and water. Later, in the name of this girl the temple was made by the jawans.  The distance between the border and temple is around 20-30 km.

Another interesting fact of this area is about KALADUNGAR. Kaladungar is the highest point of Katch. The mystery about this place is here that when vehicles are not controlled by the driver it keeps moving by moderately by itself own. A number of approx 2000 tourist on weekend and 500-600 on weekdays are seen in this border.

During the months of May-October, these Rann (desert) get filled with the water of Arabian sea and as soon as the monsoon season ends, the water again goes deep down and the soil is left over with salty trash. Due to this phenomenon, the land here is filled with salt rocks. Thus, the land is a known as the White Rann of Kutch. This place is a scenic beauty in itself because miles and miles away the land is Whitish colored which makes the look like a seventh heaven. This border is one amongst the difficult border as per the BSF jawans. They says that, the border is located in such an isolated area that many times they faces difficulties to get even the basic necessary amenities.

The government has made a new selfie tower there which is 150 m. Tourist there can go and capture various thrilling picture for a memorable experience. This selfie tower also helps the tourist to capture the border fence and a Pakistani village named Balotra which is 3.5 km away from Indian border.

Seema Darshan: (A visit at the border)

Seema darshan is a program that was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gujarat in the year 2016 for the tourist visiting the border. Basically, it is a ceremony just like the Wagah border ceremony, which is organized by the BSF jawan of Nadabet. This is a ceremony is a kind gesture by BSF for the tourist visiting them. The ceremony includes of various folk dances, a bird watching show, fashion shows as well as a camel show. A small museum is made where an exhibition of weapons and a photo gallery is done. A film on the life of the jawans is made by the TCGL (Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd) which is the eye-catcher of the whole ceremony. The whole ceremony of Seema Darshan is planned and organized by BSF jawans.

  • Government recognized Identity card is must.
  • Kindly carry water, medicines eatables in the journey.
