Interview with Nishit Jariwala, the founder of BuddyBits

1) Nishit, tell us something about yourself.

I am basically from Surat. I’ve always been fascinated by brands and startups. I started a web design company with mere sum of 600 rupees at the age of 17. Before I stepped into college to pursue engineering, I managed around 10 clients in vacations of 12th grade. And while pursuing engineering, I kept taking projects under company Lysung Technology. I’m an art lover. I love photography, music, and travelling. Professionally, I run a lifestyle portal cum online magazine BuddyBits.com. At BuddyBits.com we give latest happening around the world in all section. Be it entertainment, science and tech, sports, lifestyle or education. We have something for everyone.

2) When and how you started BuddyBits?

BuddyBits.com was launched on 5th June, 2011 (World Environment Day) as an eco-friendly social networking website. I didn’t know the word entrepreneurship or startup at that time. To be frank, I was a kid who wanted to do something while studying in college. So I launched BuddyBits.com. Then after a long pause of 4 months, I relaunched it as a news portal. And since then BuddyBits.com is evolving and now it is one of the most popular blogs of India.

3) Who’s your inspiration?

I don’t have one inspiration to be honest. I follow a lot of good people and try to implement their best qualities in my life. For example, Elon Musk taught me, ‘it is okay to fail and to have multiple passions’, Dhirubhai Ambani taught me, ‘anybody can achieve anything in life’ and Narendra Modi taught me ‘how to be a leader’.

The thing that keeps me going everyday is my goals, which include personal as well as professional goals such as traveling the world, making a house in the woods or taking BuddyBits international.

I’d suggest the same to fellow entrepreneurs. Without goals, you are nothing. Set your eyes on big things, work hard to achieve them and universe will make it happen.

4) How did BuddyBits became so popular?

Honestly, it was never planned. But I always felt it was meant to happen. From 2011 to 2017, for six long years, I kept BuddyBits a hobby. I kept blogging on BuddyBits part time. But last year, I felt it was time to take it full time. So I hired a team of writers and video producer and started BuddyBits full time in August 2017. And in just a span of 10 months we grew from 2 lac followers to 2 million followers. Currently we are one of the top 20 lifestyle blogs of India in terms of reach.

5) What is your future plan?

Film-making is something that I’ve always had my eyes on. So I want to make short films, web-series and other digital content. Not only producing, I want to try my hands on writing and directing as well. We may go also international in terms of audience building in coming years. And apart from it, I wish to start an organization which will dedicatedly work for conservation of nature and environmental awareness.

6) What do you want to do for India?

So many things. We are already doing something for the country by spreading awareness on different issues through articles and campaigns of BuddyBits.com. We will keep doing that in bigger ways in future. So as a media company, we will keep promoting good things of India to the world.

7) Do you have a message for aspiring entrepreneurs?

I’d like to tell all aspiring entrepreneurs that finding a passion in life and settling on one thing is now cliche. You can have multiple passions and work in multiple professions. Also, never fear failure. Failure is part of the process. It’s a hurdle in your way to achieve your dreams, not the end station. So when you fail, stand up and move on. Learn from it and keep going. Keep spreading happiness. 🙂
