Sabarmati Riverfront
Amidst all the chaos, leeway for halcyon has been created – Sabarmati Riverfront. This 22.5 km long stretch has a menu of varieties to offer. Go for old school – food basket and blanket picnics with friends and family or enjoy the color splash it offers through its festivals/exhibitions and other activities. Dividing the city as it flows amidst it, this place also offers you indulgence in water sports or a stroll by the river. Peaces, calm, joy, colors and fresh air – it caters all this and much more to everyone.

Law Garden
There’s something for everybody at picnic day! – says it all for the public garden of this city. Play areas for children; pathway maze for strolls; sod spread for cushiness; little animals and birds for company – this green domicile has it all. Family day out or romantic picnics, can be done all. Surrounded with market and busy food lane yet manages to keep it hush.
Parimal Garden

Vastrapur Lake
Officially named Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta Sarovar – this lake also serves as a central hub of Ahmedabad, wherein various cultural events take place regularly. Apart from the lake and lush green lawns surrounding it, this premises also have a children’s park and an open-air theater. It’s lit up with colorful lights each night, this place has become a popular spot in the city.
Sunset Drive-in
Sunset Drive-in, the only open-air cinema in the city with the largest screen in Asia is entertaining people since 1973. Carrying Mattresses, pillows, chairs, blankets – families and friends come barring their food baskets and comfort. People spend their picnics enjoying entertainment under the stars – getting best of both worlds.
Sabarmati Ashram
Sabarmati Ashram (also known as Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Ashram, or Satyagraha Ashram) is located on the banks of the River Sabarmati, adjoining the Ashram Road. This was one of the residences of Mahatma Gandhi, who lived there for about twelve years along with his wife, Kasturba Gandhi. The museum and the book store surrounded by nature makes it seem like a secluded place from the city. It not only gives peace of mind but also takes us back to the roots.
Auto World Vintage Car Museum
One can turn another page in the history book by visiting this museum on Sardar Patel Ring Road. Private collection of Pranlal Bhogilal is open to public not only for look but even for a drive. Rolls Royce, Bentley, Maybach, Austin, Cadillacs, Chrysler, Lincoln – are just a few to name. Your picnic will get perfect dash of antiquity and elegance.
Amdavad-ni-Gufa
An underground Art Gallery exhibiting works of Maqbool Fida Husain and designed by Balkrishna Doshi – combines art and nature. The open space above to lounge, eat and relax, circumambient trees and an open cafe – gives you quite the feel of free spiritedness and liberation.
Kankariya
Kankariya or Qutb Hauz as called before was built by Sultan Qutbuddin in 15th Century was used for kings to bathe but has been a popular spot for the city for decades now. Kankariya is much more than beautiful lake and is surely the complete combo for all. Kankariya zoo, children’s park – Balvatika, Amusement Park, Kids City, Toy Trains, Balloon Safari, Aqua Kart, Mini-golf course, Paintball Shooting, Nagina Baag, Aquarium, Open-air theater, Fountains and Lights, Butterfly Park, Water Park, Gym – are among other things which Kankariya offers. Surely one day is not enough!
Maniar Wonderland
As E.B.White said, “Always be on the lookout for the pressure of wonder” – then on that journey wonderland would definitely be your stop. Splashing water across the pool or riding funky rides is all the fun and sweetness but the cherry on top is the snow park. Snow park gives a refreshing break from the heat and the chaos and the usual one does on picnics.
Thol Bird Santuary
An artificial lake constructed as an irrigation tank initially has turned into a Bird Sanctuary. A habitat to 150 species of birds, of which 60% are water birds. While watching the sunrise, gives you a reminder of Rabindranath Tagore’s words –
“Faith is the bird that feels the light when dawn is still dark.”
Indroda Nature Park
Albert Einstein said rightly,
“Look deep into nature, then you will understand everything better.”
Spread around 400ha, this park is divided into two parts on the banks of Sabarmati River. Gives a package of a zoo, a botanical garden and a place showcasing skeletons of sea mammals. Spend time looking deep and understanding better friends.
Adalaj-ni-Vav
Vav (step well) is intricately carved and is five stories deep. This well was used not only for fresh drinking water and for washing clothes but was also a venue for various colorful festivals. Built by sand stones, gives you a feel of belonging there with the serene atmosphere it carried.
Splash the Fun World
Waterslides, stimulated rain dances, wave pools with a back drop of cooling shelter of trees gives a perfect hideout from the hustles of the city. Come friends, come all – enjoy! As water is the driving force of all nature.
Gujarat Science City
IMAX 3D theater, Hall of space, Hall of science, Electrodrome and much more is offered here. Here, where lot of seminars and other activities are conducted whereby school and parents bring their children for exploring this world and its facts. The premises has lawns and cafeterias to lounge.
